Student of the Week

The Student of the week is Alexandra Perez. The Student of the Week will share their poster with the class throughout the week. On Fridays, the Student of the Week may bring a special item to share with the class.

Teacher News:
I hope everyone had a nice, long, and relaxing weekend!

This week the students will be reading the weekly story Helen Keller. (Lesson 14) The class will be working on author’s purpose, summarizing, and the suffix LY. The students will also be going over long O words, and capitalizing proper nouns.

Last week, I sent home a culture doll project to go along with our Social Studies unit. The directions for the project, and how it will be graded, was sent home. The dolls are due no later than January 23rd.

This Thursday, January 18th, will be the start of Homework Club. Homework Club will meet every Thursday, from 2:45-3:30 pm. This is an opportunity to for me to help students with their homework, or reinforce challenging topics, if need be.

Just a friendly reminder, that tests will no longer be read to students. Students who turn in assignments late or without a name, will receive a ten point deduction. I will be understanding, as I know things happen that are out of our control. Please, just send a note, if a circumstance happens were homework cannot be completed.

Lastly, If your child needs a new pair of headphones, please have him/her bring a pair to class ASAP. Also, students will need to wear tennis shoes on Mondays and Fridays for Music class. The students are learning how to square dance!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact me. My email is: dcochran@highland.k12.in.us

Sincerely,
Mr. Cochrane
